B3 Racing Team drivers getting familiar with the Macau Guia Circuit

Race of Macau’s unique schedule began a day earlier than usual for the field of the TCR International Series with Free Practice 1 before Sunday’s races that will mark the end of the 2016 season.

The Guia Circuit is longer than most of the regular racetrack which means even less opportunities for the drivers to experience the tight and twisty street circuit surrounded by barriers. On the top of that, they lost the majority of the 30 minutes’ track time following Edgar Lau’s crash only 5 minutes into the session and the subsequent red flag.

Because of the nature of the track, B3 Racing Team’s drivers were unable to return to the pits before Lau’s car was rescued, only when the circuit got cleared again. This lost them another minute of precious running and made Attila Tassi and Dušan Borković to complete only 7 laps, while Mat’o Homola’s total lap count was 8 at the circuit.

This is not yet enough experience to put together a perfect lap, so Homola’s 11th place, Tassi’s 15th place and Borković’s 20th place is only a formality at this stage of the weekend.

Dávid Bári, technical director of the team asked his drivers to get familiar with the circuit and collect data for qualifying. Apart from two smaller incidents, B3 Racing Team’s drivers managed to stay away from troubles and saved their cars from major damages. 5 minutes before the end of the session, Tassi brushed the wall but brought the car home with minor issues just like Homola, whose car collected a few bruises as he also touched the barriers.
